“If the only prayer you ever said was Thank you, it would be enough.”

Gratitude is considered one of the two most powerful and healing vibrations on the planet. The other is love! In his water crystal experiments, the Japanese scientist, Dr. Masaru Emoto, discovered that when water is exposed to thoughts of gratitude, it forms stunningly beautiful crystals. When water is exposed to disturbing or negative emotions like anger and hatred, the crystals appear mangled, asymmetrical and unpleasant.

Considering that our body is 70% water imagine what negative thoughts, words and feelings can do to our body. This was a landmark finding by Dr. Emoto presenting scientific evidence of the impact of thoughts and emotions on our physical body.

How to inculcate the habit

Bring more thoughts, words and feelings of gratitude into your life. You can start now by being grateful to your body for being such a willing and loving servant. Whether we abuse it through junk food, lack of sleep or overworking, it keeps going as long as it can. Today, take the time to say “Thank you”. Start with your feet that carry your weight and take you wherever you want to go and move your way up your body. Express your gratitude to your legs, thighs, stomach, chest, shoulders, arms, hands, neck, face and all the way to the top of your head. When you have finished, just sit there for a few minutes soaking in the healing energies of gratitude.

Benefits of gratitude practices

The emotion of gratitude is also a great anti-dote to our 3 big unsettling emotions – fear, doubt and judgment. When such emotions arise, just gently turn your mind towards what’s good and wholesome in the situation. Focusing your attention on abundance and wholeness will bring your more of the same and will help you calm your fear, doubt or judgment and help you make better decisions both at home and at work.
